Join Rising Star Theatre's 2-week summer theatre camp and discover the magic of theatre! The day camp will run from July 31, 2023 through August 12, 2023. Our program is designed for aspiring performers ages 11-18 who want to develop their skills and have fun. Participants will learn acting techniques, vocal performance, choreography, and stagecraft from experienced professionals in a supportive and inclusive environment. This summer we will be performing Disney's High School Musical, Jr. This show features a large ensemble cast with many featured roles. Whether your kids are singers, actors, dancers or triple threats, everyone has an opportunity to shine in this high-energy show! Disney’s High School Musical, Jr. centers on the blossoming relationship between Troy, a high school jock, and Gabriella, the new smart girl at school. They meet on a family vacation and become attracted to each other while singing in a karaoke competition. Rediscovering each other at school, their relationship and their surprise decision to audition together for the school show are thwarted by the school’s current leading lady, Sharpay, and Troy and Gabriella’s well-meaning friends. Finally, Gabriella and Troy find a way to be themselves and are rewarded with the lead roles in the school show. Full of catchy songs and exciting dance routines, this musical explores issues of friendship, first love, and acceptance. Rehearsals will be held at Elite Studios in Shelley, ID and performances will be at the Idaho Falls Civic Center. Rehearsals will start July 31st at 9am. Rehearsals will run 9am - 2pm, Monday, July 31st through Wednesday, August 9th. Dress rehearsal will be Thursday, August 10 and the performances will be Friday and Saturday, August 11-12th.
